(I) Halloween Radness

I drew this for my co-worker, friend, birthday twin, and fellow Netflix backwater horror movie (and GORGEOUS Autumn light) enthusiast Adam. I don't think he got the idea for his Halloween costume from my picture, but look at him: that's some Pure Rad right there. The man super glued his ears into that shape. COME on! Amazing.

Happy Halloween, all!

(I) L is for Lilies

Welcome Lillian Paige Sampson, born October 10th!

I've done a few of these little alphabet thingies, most recently for my niece, Kaiya. I also have a Cafepress store where you can get your purchase on. Let me know if you'd like a design on a different product, too. Don't see a design you like? Commission one! Email me for more details.

(I) R.I.P.

A card design for a friend whose sweet little friend had to be put to sleep.

[Side note: If you're crafty and like to make cards, I recommend Zazzle.com. Zazzle lets you put designs on any or all of the card's four surfaces for the same price, and the quality of their products is excellent. They have a bunch of other things to print on as well - check 'em out if that's your thing!]

(I) Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog - The Musical! (Poster Design)

My friend Nikki has once again asked me to do artwork for her high school's yearly theater production. I've done a few other posters for her, including one for ALL IN THE TIMING, ALMOST, MAINE and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. This year she's making Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog into a musical, which should be amazing! (I modeled this poster design on one of my all-time favorite comic book covers, the oft-imitated Uncanny X-Men #141.)

[Never heard of Dr. Horrible? You've been living a sad, sad lie of a life. It's a Whedon/Tancharoen project starring Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, and Felicia Day that was created during the writer's strike back in 2007-2008, and it's excellent. CLICK HERE for more details.]

(I) Ellie

A very good friend of mine recently made the decision to euthanize her wonderful cat, Ellie, after almost two decades of friendship. Ellie was a very mellow, friendly kitty and though I didn't see her all that often, I knew that she was taking care of my friend. I'm not sure if the picture is quite right in terms of fur pattern, but my heart was in the right place. I miss you, Ellie.

(OPP) Eric Canete

Do you know Eric Canete? Check out his blog by clicking HERE. He's incredible.

(I): New stuff at the GooBlog

The last thing I posted from my blog with Matt, My Black Dad, was my lovely tribute to my best friend, my bicycle. Below is some new stuff I've done recently, which basically comprises all the illustration work I've done since then. Click on the pictures to read more about each post!

You should also check out all the brilliance that is Matt Gaydos, both at our blog and at his new site, Mister G Kids, a collection of illustrated moments from his career as a substitute teacher in L.A. They are incredible, and Matt's burning away on them, publishing pretty much every day.

(V) UPDATE: New Videos on YouTube!

Looks like the last video I posted was last year's Rest Stop 2 video. It also looks like Moebius' death was so traumatic I was unable to post anything since March! And there's been some things happening! So for those of you who haven't been obsessively checking my YouTube channel, here's a few links to the new stuff (click on the pictures to watch the videos):

Two new Morty's (and another coming soon!):

A new Zombie! starring my very good friend Marianne and all three of her brilliant kids:

And this year's AIDS/Lifecycle video, documenting life during our week-long adventure at Rest Stop 2:

Stay tuned for more videos coming soooooon!!

Another day, another baby! This design is for my brand new niece, Kaiya Ventana Newman, born June 14th, 2011! She got her own special version of this design, but you can purchase this and many other baby products at my Cafepress store and my Spreadshirt store. R.I.P. Jean Giraud, 1938 - 2012

One of my earliest influences - both on my work and how I thought about art in general - passed away today. Rest in peace, Moebius - the world is more beautiful in your wake.

Card Redesign Request (GD)

My good friend Heather requested a twist on a card design I'd made, something to personalize the image for her own cards. Below is the original image, for sale at my cafepress store.

Heather asked me to make the background brown and take out the white offset border, which she and her beautiful new son Thomas are modeling:

Heather's got a blog, too - she's a great writer trying to de-clutter her apartment/life. CLICK HERE to check that out. And thanks for the support, Heather!

I encourage anyone to make suggestions like this - any of my images can go on any product, and minor adjustments can also be made, just ask! Keep checking the store for more cards n stuff, which I'll be adding soon!

2012 Illustration and New T-Shirts!

An illustration for my blog with Matt:

For those not in the know, Matt's also an illustrator. We have a blog where we take turns creating pieces, a kind of conversation back and forth. We've recently recommitted to it, so 2012 should be pretty interesting over there. Check it out by clicking HERE.

There's also some new clothing designs in the store, so check those out by clicking HERE. As always, if you'd like any of my designs on another item, either on the clothes at Spreadshirt or an item at my Cafepress store (or OwlHenryBaby!) please send me an email and I'll get right on it!

Happy New Year!

Oh hi, blog! Contrary to appearances 'round these parts, I've actually been creating some things here and there. There's a few videos to check out on YouTube, for example, including the latest Zombie! installment, Zombie 3!!!

This one stars my good friend Marianne and her super-talented kids, as well as a special cameo. There's also a new Morty, where the ancient thespian responds to some fan mail:

Click on the pictures to watch 'em now!

This is a Halloween image I made and never used for anything. It was a real struggle to get him away from looking like Abe Sapien from Hellboy, and the end result feels like "Abe Sapien's demon cousin, Lyle":

This is my Christmas card image for 2011:

I don't really know where it came from - I wanted to draw a polar bear, that's what I started with. I thought maybe a couple of bears dancing around in the snow, and then the fox and rabbit wanted to get involved, so...here they are.

A friend recently had to put his little rat friend to sleep, so I drew this for him:

It's kind of a long story, so I'll let you just appreciate the image.

And for those of you who don't know, I have another blog with my friend Matt, a very talented creative type in Los Angeles, and we've renewed our commitment to that project, so look for more stuff specifically created for our GooBlog in the new year. Read our new mission statement by clicking here.

There's more stuff coming down the line in 2012, so stay with me! And if you're reading this, thank you for taking the time, and I hope 2012 brings a whole bunch of great stuff to you. Happy New Year, all!
