R is for Rowan! (I)

Four years ago, my favorite gay dads asked me for a design for their baby boy, and then just recently they welcomed a daughter! (That's a Red panda, if you're curious.) I'm honored to be even a small part of their wonderful journey - congratulations again, Francis and Bear!

Frame It UP! (I)

 Two friends sent me pictures of works of mine they recently had FRAMED! There's truly no greater honor! The first is from my friend Erik, who commissioned a portrait of himself years ago. In honor of our shared love of the strange and wonderful, this is him as a doomed student from one of his favorite films, Suspiria, in the style of a Ghastlycrumb Tiny:

D is for Delish (I)

K is for Kittens in Kimonos! (I)

Last year it was kangaroos, the year before was krakens. This year the niecelet's fourth birthday will be celebrated with kittens in kimonos! Happy birthday, Kaiya!!

J is for Jabberwock (I)

Something of a miss on this Christmas present for a friend - I've had a few of those lately. But hey - art is subjective! I tried to incorporate elements of the classic illustration by John Tenniel, a formative work on my young mind.

K is for Kung Fu Kangaroos (I)

The niecelet turns three this year. When she was born I made a K is for Kaiya/Kachina design, and for her second birthday she got a t-shirt with Krakens on it. This year, kung fu-kicking kangaroos! Happy birthday, you wonderful little creature!!

The niecelet turned 2 a few weeks ago, and her grandmother wanted a t-shirt design to celebrate this historic event, something involving krakens, perhaps...? This one was a wee bit rushed, but that doesn't mean I love that kid any less. Release the Kaiya!!

Bibi and Baby (I)

A commissioned piece for my mom. 'Bibi' is the Swahili word for grandmother, and 'mjukuu' means grandchild.

Careful observers will note- perhaps with outrage- that there's already an "S" design in the B is for Baby canon. This one was a commission for some friends and their new baby, which apparently looked like a tiny seahorse in her first sonogram. Yeah! Three more letters towards my total conquest of the alphabet! Wa ha ha!! The iguana is a commission, the quail was for a friend's birthday, and the bat is just rad. And that's what we're all about here at OwlHenryDesign: Rad.
